NCAA Scoring Champ Tim Trava Breaks SJC Goals Record Patchogue, NY – There is no stopping Tim Trava - a fact has that been learned by the opposition to St. Joseph’s College over the past four soccer seasons. Virtually every time Trava steps on the fields these days he is on the verge of writing his name in the record books whether it be for St. Joseph’s or the NCAA. Last year as 2002’s NCAA Scoring Champion, Trava scored more goals (32) and points (74) than any other soccer player in the country. He also scored in 15 consecutive games and averaged 3.36 points per game (22 games). This time it was breaking the SJC career goals mark that has stood since 1994. The previous record holder, Mike Reilly, scored 68 goals over his four-year career with the Golden Eagles. Tim surpassed that mark in just his sixth game of his senior season and currently has 71 career goals to his credit. This past weekend Trava was named the Offensive MVP of the St. Joseph’s College Tournament. Over the two days he scored a tournament-high three goals and tallied two assists. St. Joseph’s came in second place in the tournament after tying with Rutgers-Camden, 2-2, and losing the first place trophy on a penalty kick shootout. The Patchogue native and member of the 2002 Division III All-America Metro Region Team was also named Skyline Conference co-Player of the Week for his recent accomplishments. He currently has seven goals and two assists for 16 points in 2003. The Golden Eagles stand at 3-3-1 following seven contests. They play their Skyline opener tonight against Centenary College and host their arch-rival USMMA next Wednesday at 4 pm. Coach Smith’s squad is hoping to get off to a quick start against their division opponents.
