Kristen Mando Voted Skyline co-Player of
the Year Patchogue, NY – The Skyline Conference today released its' 2003-2004 post-season basketball awards and among the honorees are two St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Basketball players - Kristen Mando and Steven Drury. Kristen Mando has been named Skyline Conference co-Player of the Year, in addition to being named First Team All-Conference. On the men's side, Steven Drury was voted Skyline First Team All-Conference. Kristen Mando, in just her second season of intercollegiate basketball, becomes the first basketball player in Golden Eagle history to win a Skyline Player of the Year award. Mando will share player of the year honors with Oneisha Staples from Mt. St. Mary College. Mando, a 5-11 sophomore forward, led St. Joseph's in scoring this season by pouring in 19.8 points per game. In addition to her prolific scoring, she was also the Lady Eagles leading rebounder (10.8 per game) and shot blocker (12). In reaching 514 total points for the Golden Eagles this season, Mando managed to climb up the NCAA statistical rankings. In the latest Division III report, she stood at number fourteen overall in points per game and rebounds per game. The West Babylon graduate led the entire Skyline Conference in points per game average and was ranked number two in rebounding. Earlier in the season Kristen was named ECAC Player of the Week and took home Skyline Player of the Week honors four times. For Steve Drury this marks the second straight year in which he has been named to the Skyline All-Conference Team. In the 2002-2003 season, the forward was named to the Skyline Second Team. This year, after leading the Golden Eagles with 18 points and 8.52 rebounds per game, the senior captain garnered enough support from the Skyline coaches to make the First Team. In his two seasons at St. Joseph's College, Drury has scored 829 points
(16.6 per game) placing him 10th on the SJC All-Time scoring list. Drury
also totaled 420 rebounds (8.4 per game), good for sixth place on the
rebounding list. The Bellmore JFK graduate also re-wrote the record books
when he pulled down an SJC individual-game high 23 rebounds on December
