Mike Luzim Named Skyline Pitcher of the Week
Senior Earns Two Victories Over Skyline Conference Foes

Patchogue, NYMike Luzim is the first Golden Eagle hardball player to receive an honor from the Skyline Conference this season. The ace of the St. Joseph's pitching staff was awarded Pitcher of the Week (3/29/04) honors after posting two Skyline victories and hurling 11 innings without giving up an earned run.

Luzim helped SJC defeat Mt. St. Mary and Maritime College in crucial Skyline Conference games last week. In his eleven scoreless innings over the two games, Luzim struck out 10 batters.

The senior, who was among the Division III leaders in ERA last season, has picked up right where he left off in 2003. Luzim is the leader of the young SJC pitching staff and is being counted on to anchor the rotation.

In his first three years of college baseball, Mike posted a 1.50 ERA, including a 1.04 ERA in 2003. If he holds to his usual form he will rank among the all-time leaders in Division III at seasons end. The Kings Park native was named to the Skyline All-Conference First Team last year.

The St. Joseph's College Golden Eagles are currently 7-9 and have won five of their last seven contests. This week they will travel to Stevens Tech on Wednesday and then host Farmingdale State at noon on Saturday, both of which are critical Skyline doubleheaders. SJC is 2-1 in the Skyline thus far.
