School
of Arts and Sciences In keeping with St. Joseph's College's objective to educate the whole person in an environment which permits the student to grow through self-direction and responsibility, the administration and faculty grant the students a high degree of control over extra curricular affairs. Student Services are designed to create a climate in which students, while developing academically, can at the same time recognize and utilize their potential in every facet of their lives. Student Activities, coordinated and administered by the Office of Student Services, are readily provided for and by the students. Students at the College enjoy the intimacy of a small college and the advantages of the many cultural and recreation facilities in nearby metropolitan New York. Within the College, the students initiate clubs, social events, and co-curricular activities according to their interests. Student favorites include comedy nights, guest lecturers, sports events, concerts, galas, coffeehouses and forums on current issues. Student power is vested in the Student Government Association. This organization encompasses the Student Government Association Executives, Student Senate and over thirty clubs and organizations. These clubs and organizations allow students the opportunities to experience a fulfilling collegiate experience at a commuter college. St. Joseph's College is committed to making the transition to college a smooth one. In working to this end, Student Services and student Orientation Leaders plan Orientation programs for entering transfer students and freshmen. These programs give the new students the opportunity to participate in information workshops, social activities and tours of the campus. At St. Joseph's College, students enjoy a complete college experience both inside and outside the classroom. |
