Speech Communication

Effective oral communication is vital not only for professional but personal success. Speech Communication majors develop confidence and poise, learn excellent listening and critical thinking skills, acquire the ability to express opinions effectively and develop their interpretive reading ability.

A group of courses addresses the science of speech, introducing majors to the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology.

Courses to consider include Audiology; Aural Rehabilitation; Business and Professional Communication; Psychology of Speech Communication; and Voice and Diction.

Careers to consider include audiology; broadcasting; business consulting and training; human resources; management consulting; marketing; motivational speaking; performance; rehabilitative services; sign language interpretation; speech pathology; teaching; and theatre.
