School
of Arts and Sciences | Academic Programs “We have a great mix of professors who have been teaching
a long time — as well as professors who have been applying the theory because
they came
from industry. I’ve been in computer engineering and software development
for 27 years.” Our computer science and computer information systems programs are based on the standard curriculum of the Association for Computing Machinery and combine a strong theoretical foundation with practical application. Students learn in fully equipped laboratories using the latest tools in the field. Course offerings are diverse, permitting studies to be weighted in the direction of primary interest. Internships are available in a student’s senior year to gain practical experience and valuable industry exposure. A five–year masters program is also offered in which students receive a bachelor’s degree from SJC and a master’s degree in Computer Science from Polytechnic University. Graduates are prepared to continue their studies further or enter the job market. Computer Science and Information Systems majors can begin exciting careers in software development, computer graphics, animation, web design, database design and development, numerical analysis, statistical analysis, business systems, information management research and government service. With the prolific application of technology in today’s society, the opportunities that are available to our graduates are virtually unlimited. For more information about this program, please
