of Arts and Sciences | Academic Programs The history major offers a wide range of courses in American, European and World History, with an emphasis on multicultural studies, research techniques and critical thinking. Small classes invite lively discussion and debate, developing in students a depth of historical understanding and research skills. The excellence of our program is evidenced in the grants, fellowships and assistantships for graduate school, law school and other post-graduate programs awarded to history graduates. Courses to consider include Contemporary International Problems; East Asia; Latin America; Modern Sub-Saharan Africa; and New York: State and City. Careers to consider include editing scholarly journals; banking and business; foreign service; government; historical writing; journalism; law; library science; museum work; professional research; and social services.
