Computer Information Systems

The B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems is designed to prepare students to apply information technology within organizational contexts. The curriculum is in full compliance with the Association of Computing Machinery recommendations for undergraduate information systems studies, and includes a wide variety of elective courses.

This major is appropriate for students interested in the computer field who wish to apply computer concepts in a business environment. The program focuses on the development of technology infrastructures and systems and the use of these to acquire, deploy and manage information. It places less emphasis on the theoretical and mathematical aspects of computer science than does the traditional computer science curriculum and focuses more on applications in a commercial context.

Graduates are prepared for entry–level positions in the field of information systems and for graduate study.
