Organizational Management
Society for Human Resource Management
Human Resource Professional Development Certificate Program

St. Joseph’s College in cooperation with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will offer a program for human resource professionals utilizing SHRM® Learning System. Participants may choose either (1) six alternate Saturdays or (2) an on–line learning course, where all lessons and reviews are completed on–line. This allows you scheduling flexibility while you prepare for your certification examination.

This course is designed to provide an overview of key areas of human resource management. The six course modules correspond to the fix functional areas and to the body of knowledge tested in the profession’s HRCI certificate examinations.

To receive a course certificate, the Saturday program participants must attend at least four sessions and score 70% on all test; or score 70% or better on the final examination. Online participants must score 70% or better on the final examination.

Who Should Attend?
The course is specifically designed for managers and staff with experience in general management or human resource management:

  • HR practitioners seeking professional development to enhance or advance their career
  • Experienced managers who are new to the human resource field
  • Other mid–level managers pursuing career change or promotion
  • HR professionals planning to take the PHR or SPHR certification exams

Program Benefits

Career Advancement
This course is strategic in nature, preparing HR professionals for career advancement opportunities. This course features open interactive forums and 'real world' case studies to effectively reinforce key concepts of each session.

Practitioner–focused and Competency–based
The curriculum is designed by subject matter experts and includes application exercises designed to develop specific competencies and decision–making skills.

Tuition Reimbursement
Many HR professionals will be eligible to apply for employer tuition reimbursement.

Action–Oriented Curriculum
Designed to provide opportunities for HR professionals to network, share 'real–world' experiences and apply what they learn to the workplace.

Recertification Credits
Certified HR professionals can earn credit toward PHR/SPHR recertification.

Student Eligibility
Students/recent graduates are eligible to take the PHR examination no earlier than one year prior to graduation date. Those who pass the exam then have five years to secure and document the required exempt–level HR experience and pay the remaining certification fee. A student who meets the HR exempt–level experience requirement as a practitioner, educator, researcher or consultant may not take the examination under the student category.
