Nursing
Admission Process

In addition to completing the admission procedure for the School of Adult and Professional Education, candidates for admission to the nursing program must submit:

  1. A nursing program application.

  2. Transcripts of lower–division course work. If student copies of transcripts are submitted initially, official transcripts must be on file within the first 18 credits of course work at St. Joseph’s College.

  3. Two letters of reference from employing agency or School of Nursing attesting to the candidate’s clinical competency and potential for professional growth.

  4. Proof of license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.


Transfer of Credits
Students who have graduated from an NLNAC accredited Associate Degree Program can transfer liberal arts and science credits when a grade of C or above has been achieved.

Students who have graduated from an NLNAC accredited Hospital Diploma Program can earn credit through CLEP challenge examinations in selected liberal arts and science courses.

Satisfactory scores on the NLN Nursing Acceleration Challenge Exam (ACE) II RN-BSN Tests required for graduates of Hospital Diploma Programs to validate 24 credits in nursing. These tests must be taken no later than the second semester after admission to the program.
