Admission Requirements
An applicant wishing to pursue
a degree or certificate program within the School of Adult and Professional
Education must be an adult with a high school diploma or its equivalent
and be deemed capable of completing the requirements for the degree or certificate.
In addition to having met the general admission requirements of the School,
students typically have postsecondary education and training and have acquired,
through experience, the skills and knowledge appropriate to the degree or
certificate. Exceptions to this are made with the approval of the
Dean. Please refer to the program
description regarding additional requirements for majors or certificate
programs.
Admission Procedure
The admission procedure for
the School of Adult and Professional Education has been specially designed
for adults. In many cases, for your convenience, the entire admission,
advisement, and registration procedure can be completed during one visit
to the College.
Make an appointment to come
to the Suffolk Campus office by calling the appointment secretary at (631)
4473250. Applicants interested in coming by the Brooklyn Campus
office should visit the Brooklyn
School of Adult and Professional Education web page.
Applicants should bring the following:
- Evidence of the high school
diploma or its equivalent. (It is sufficient to provide evidence
of completion of another educational program for which the high school
diploma or its equivalent was required; for example, a nursing diploma,
a community college transcript, or a professional license.) Please
bring a photocopy of this evidence to be left at the office.
- A photocopy of the transcript
from a United States collegelevel English composition course.
- A $25.00 nonrefundable fee.

Those who wish to register will make a nonrefundable tuition deposit at the time of registration.
Fulltime students (12 or more credits) pay $205.00; parttime pay $80.00.
These amounts include a $5.00 ID card fee.
New York State law requires
college students born on or after January 1, 1957, to be immunized against
measles, mumps, and rubella. Consult the admissions counselor for details.
Permanent resident or international

bring their passport with I9 form
Applicants submitting transcripts
from foreign educational institutions may be required to submit their
educational documents to a St. Joseph's Collegeapproved foreign credential
evaluation service for a coursebycourse report. Applicants deal directly
with the foreign credential evaluation service and are responsible for
following the procedures of the service and payment of all fees charged
for that service. The applicant may also be required to submit a wordforword
English translation of credentials by a College-approved translation service
at the applicant's expense.
