History

The History major offers a wide range of courses in American, European and World History, with an emphasis in multicultural studies, research techniques and critical thinking. Small classes invite lively discussion and debate, developing in students a depth of historical understanding and research skills. The excellence of our program is evidenced in the grants, fellowships and assistantships for graduate school, law school, and other post-graduate programs awarded to history graduates.

History courses to consider include Contemporary International Problems; East Asia; Latin America; Modern Sub-Saharan Africa; and The Arab World.

Careers for History majors include editing scholarly journals; banking and business; foreign service; government; historical writing; journalism; law; library science; museum work; professional research; social services; travel services; and high school and university teaching.
