School of Arts and Sciences

“My hope is to generate students who become their own best teachers, who become lifelong learners, who are intellectually hungry for life — and capable of feeding that hunger by themselves.”
David Seppala–Holtzman, Mathematics Department

St. Joseph’s College offers an undergraduate education which balances a classic liberal arts education with hands–on pre–professional training. This unique educational experience enables students to enter the workplace and graduate programs extremely well prepared, able to apply their knowledge with confidence born from experience.

Our core curriculum is the centerpiece of this effort, designed to help students develop an understanding of all major areas of knowledge, both in theory and practice. Our academic standards for the School of Arts and Sciences are rigorous, but our nurturing faculty and advisors are there to help every step of the way.

In September 2002, St. Joseph's entered into a collaborative program with Polytechnic University to provide housing for St. Joseph's students. The Donald F. & Mildred Topp Othmer Residence Hall allows St. Joseph's to recruit a broader and more diverse population of students from outside the New York City area.

If you would like more information about the college, housing, or would like to schedule a tour of the campus, please visit the Admissions page.
