International Student Admissions

The degrees offered through the School of Adult and Professional Education are designed for adults who have completed post–secondary education and training and have acquired, through experience, the skills and knowledge appropriate to the degree.

In order to facilitate the International Student Admission Process, we have listed the steps you should follow:


STEP ONE

Complete, sign and date the International Student Application for Admission form (Adobe PDF). Attach a check or money order of $25 (non–refundable application fee) or make credit card payment to St. Joseph’s College.


STEP TWO

Provide evidence of completion of another educational program for which the high school diploma or its equivalent was required. This may include post–secondary education (university or higher educational institution), nursing diploma or professional license, etc.


Foreign credits evaluation
Applicants submitting transcripts from foreign educational institutions are required to submit photocopies of their educational documents in the original language along with the translation to World Education Services, a College–approved foreign credential evaluation service, for a course–by–course evaluation. Applicants deal directly with World Education Services and are responsible for following the procedures of the service and payment of all fees charged for that service. STEP THREE

Complete Application for Form I–20. Attach supporting documents that prove the financial ability of yourself and/or your sponsor(s).


STEP FOUR

Develop a professional resume.


STEP FIVE

If English is not your native language
• take a TOEFL test and receive a score of minimum 500 (paper-based) or 173 (computer-based).

ESL Workshop
St. Joseph’s College also offers ESL Workshop for qualified students who may need additional assistance with English.


STEP SIX

Visa Information
After you have been accepted for admission to the College and we have received your appropriate financial documents, you will have an I–20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Non–Immigrant Student Status) issued.

Students residing outside the United States:
To obtain an F–1 student visa, which will allow you to enter the United States, you will need to submit your I–20 from St. Joseph’s College as well as your passport, admission letter and financial documents to the U.S. Consular Office in your home country. After you have been granted an F–1 visa, you will show it along with your I–20 when entering the United States.

Transfer students currently in the United States
If you wish to transfer to the College from another institution of higher education in the United States, please contact (718) 399–2749 or e–mail .


STEP SEVEN

All students accepted to the College who were born on or after January 1st, 1957 are required to submit a proof of immunity against measles, mumps, and rubella in order to register for classes. Download the Measles, Mumps and Rubella Immunization Record form (Adobe PDF). You must take this form to your doctor or health care provider who should complete and sign it.

 

Application deadlines

The application deadline for international students is May 1st for the Fall semester and October 1st for the Spring semester.


Housing
